A landmark new connection is set to bring Ibiza closer than ever to the United States.

Exciting news for Ibiza: from May 2027, United Airlines will launch the island’s first-ever direct flight to the United States, connecting New York/Newark with Ibiza four times a week throughout the summer season.

For an island with such an international community, this feels like an important new chapter. Ibiza has long attracted buyers, homeowners and visitors from across Europe and beyond, and in recent years we have seen growing interest from the American market. A direct connection with New York will make the island considerably more accessible, removing the need to travel via Madrid, Barcelona, London or another European hub.

For American buyers, this brings Ibiza that little bit closer. Leaving New York and arriving directly on the island makes owning a second home here easier and more appealing, whether for a few weeks each summer, longer stays or as part of an international property portfolio. And with Newark serving as one of the United States’ major aviation hubs, Ibiza will also become easier to reach from cities across North America.

For property owners and sellers in Ibiza, the connection is equally significant. Greater accessibility opens the island to an even wider international audience and introduces Ibiza’s exceptional property market to a growing pool of potential US buyers.

The new route is expected to operate from 31 May until 7 October 2027, four times weekly, using United’s new Airbus A321XLR. It will be the only nonstop service connecting Ibiza directly with the United States.

The announcement also comes as international connectivity across Spain and the Balearics continues to grow. United is introducing a new direct New York/Newark–Valencia service for summer 2027, while Palma de Mallorca has already established direct links with North America, including seasonal services to New York and Montreal.

At Villa Contact × Knight Frank, we see Ibiza’s increasing international connectivity as very positive news for the island and its property market. Since 1983, Villa Contact has welcomed clients from around the world, combining generations of local knowledge with an understanding of what makes Ibiza such an extraordinary place to call home.

Today, through our association with Knight Frank and its international network, that local expertise has an increasingly global reach.
