Exploring Ibiza’s festive charm: A winter wonderland on the White Isle

As we have mentioned many times before, Ibiza outside of the busy summer season is something that everyone should experience. Not many people would think about spending Christmas and New Year in Ibiza, but we truly believe that there is a certain charm to the island that shouldn’t go unnoticed.

The festive season is especially exciting! There are programmes full of fun activities and concerts throughout each municipality, as well as Christmas markets, fun fairs and exquisite dining options to indulge in.

Here are some of our top picks for 2023.

Ibiza Town

The festive programme for Ibiza is jam-packed with live performances, sing-alongs with Santa as well as the new ice-skating rink for the whole family to enjoy.

There’s also live music at venues such as Teatro Ibiza and the amazing Christmas market that stretches along Vara de Rey, which is open all the way until January 6th.

To close out the month, the Catherdral Ibiza Fun Race takes place. It’s one of the town’s oldest traditions, where hundreds of people race to the top of Dalt Vila, some in fancy dress!

For the young ones (and the young at heart), the amazing Feria de Navidad de Ibiza is open on the outskirts of Ibiza Town. This mammoth fun fair is filled with adrenaline-pumping rides for all ages, with food and drinks stalls too, so you can really make a night of it. What’s more, it’s open until January 14th, so you’ve got plenty of time to enjoy it.

Santa Eulalia del Rio

Not that we’re biased, but Santa Eulalia’s festivities are always amazing over Christmastime. The programme includes storytelling sessions and puppet shows for the little ones, as well as music performances, food truck festivals and even a cooking contest throughout the month.

You also don’t want to miss the visit from Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, spreading joy throughout the whole town.

Close by in San Carlos, Las Dalias Hippy Market opens its doors every Saturday and Sunday to become a Christmas shopping hub. Its stalls are filled with unique jewellery, boho accessories, art, and much more, all accompanied by live music and great food in the al fresco restaurant.

San Antonio

Arguably the most lively Christmas celebrations on the island, San Antonio’s calendar of events is full to the brim with activities for the whole family. This year, the fountain in the main square has been covered, creating a stage for live concerts and interactive shows almost every day of the week.

Children can enjoy workshops and magic shows throughout the day, while the adults enjoy live music later in the evening.

On Christmas Day, the traditional Christmas Cup takes place, which is a 300m swim in the port of San Antonio. Would you dare?

Ibiza’s festive season is a blend of cultural richness, culinary delights, and unique shopping experiences.

From the enchanting atmosphere of its Christmas markets to cosy dinners and diverse festive programmes, the island offers a winter experience unlike any other.

We invite you to see it for yourself.
